Kansai Nerolac Paints Posts 33% Rise In Q1 Profit
New Delhi: Kansai Nerolac Paints on Friday reported an increase of 32.89 per cent in standalone net profit at Rs 126.50 crore for the fiscal first quarter that ended on June 30, 2016.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 95.19 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.

Net sales on a standalone basis rose 7.36 per cent to Rs 1,044.64 crore in the quarter under review, as against Rs 973.02 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a filing to the BSE.

Commenting on the results, Kansai Nerolac Paints managing director H M Bharuka said, "Company has registered a double digit growth in Decorative. In Industrial, growth has been subdued. Lower commodity prices ensured that inflation was benign which has helped improve profitability." <more>

Asian Paints to set up Rs 500 crore resin, coating unit at Dahej

Bharuch: Paint and coating giants Asian Paints joined hands with US-based PPG Industry to set up Rs 500 crore resins and coating unit at Dahej GIDC estate in Bharuch. The joint venture company will be known as PPG Asian Paints Pvt Ltd and have manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.An environment public hearing was held on Wednesday at Dahej for the new company. The proposed unit will produce electro deposition raisin 30,000 metric tonnes (MT), acrylic resins 25,000 MT, polyester resins and industrial coating 70,000 MT. <more>

Berger Paints completes business transfer to BNB Coatings
BNB Coatings is a 51:49% joint venture between NPAU and Berger Paints

Berger Paints India on Thursday said it has completed business transfer agreement with its joint venture (JV) firm BNB Coatings.

"Transfer of the company's paint division relating to wheeler passenger cars and SUV, three-wheelers and related ancillaries to BNB Coatings India Pvt has been completed at the close of business hours of June 30," Berger Paints said in a BSE filing.

In April this year, Berger Paints India entered into business transfer agreement with its joint venture (JV) firm BNB Coatings. It did not disclose the amount involved <more>

Sheenlac, Jenson & Nicholson tie-up to sell decorative paints
Chennai-based Sheenlac Paints has formed a joint venture with Jenson & Nicholson to market the latter's decorative paints through its network.

The joint venture will be called Jenson & Nicholson Paints Pvt Ltd with Jenson & Nicholson holding 51 per cent and Sheenlac the remaining.

Anant Sinha, President, Jenson & Nicolson (JN), said the company has decided to shift nearly 150 employees from its decorative paint division to the joint venture. The company will no more market its decorative paint, he said.

Major segments in decorative include exterior and interior wall paints, wood finishes and enamel and ancillary products such as primers and 'putties' It accounts for over 70 per cent of the overall paint market, he said.<more>

CHENNAI: Nippon Paint on Monday launched Nippon Paint Painters Training Academy in Chennai. The training academy is currently based at the company's manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur.

Nippon Paint to sharply boost capacity in China
OSAKA -- Nippon Paint Holdings will invest roughly 30 billion yen ($284 million) in three years to significantly increase its production of building paint in China, in response to solid demand growth for its inorganic paint.

The major Japanese paint maker currently operates five large-scale plants and 24 smaller production facilities in China. It plans to add one large building-paint plant each in the inland provinces of Hubei and Henan, spending a total of 20 billion yen.<more>

Akzo Nobel India making inroads in auto refinish segment
BHOPAL: Akzo Nobel India (ANI formerly ICI India) wants to become leader in the premium coating segment once again with Dulux brand, once the most cherished paint label in India. Akzo got the brand from ICI stable.
Speaking at the 62nd annual general meeting (AGM) of the company, N Kaviratne, chairman of ANI, said they would like to have 50% market share in the premium coating segment. Currently, Dulux has 22% market share in the premium and semi-premium coating segment and is in the top bracket. "I would like to see Dulux as a brand having top share of mind of the consumers," he added.<more>
