I feel demand will pick up in the second half. Base levels (year-ago numbers) are on the lower side, so the growth rates will be better. Monsoon was good.

AkzoNobel, Black Bear Pair Up to Make Powder Coatings From Old Tires
Tires that have reached the end of the road are being harvested for carbon black and used to produce powder coatings in a new cooperation between AkzoNobel and Dutch company Black Bear.
The Cradle-to-Cradle certified carbon black supplied by Black Bear - which is obtained from end-of-life tires - is being used as pigment in the eco-premium products developed by AkzoNobel's Powder Coatings business. With this cooperation AkzoNobel not only uses carbon black, traditionally obtained from fossil fuels, with a vastly lower CO2 footprint, but also helps to solve the global waste tire problem.<more>

Stingless bee farmers advised to use nanotechnology to increase production
TUARAN: Stingless bee or lebah kelulut farmers are advised to adopt nanotechnology in order to increase the production of kelulut honey.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said through the technology, the kelulut honey production would increase by 20%.
"The technology and innovation culture will boost the people's income, and at the same time it will spur the country's economy," he told reporters after officiating a workshop under Youth Agropreneurs Development Programme on kelulut honey industry using technology in Tamparuli, here today.
Madius hoped participants would disseminate the knowledge gained from the workshop to other people especially the youths.<more>
Geological Survey of India stumbles on whopping Rs 46,000 crore valuable minerals along the Andhra coastline
The GSI said the valuable minerals include zirconium, garnet, alumilite, sillimanite, rutile, traces of monazite and titanium dioxide.
These mineral deposits were located at a depth 10 metres in the sea. To work on deep water research projects and for exploration at depths of 300 metres, the GSI signed an agreement with Vietnam for purchase of an ultra-modern deep water exploration capacity ‘Geo Technical Vessel’ (GTV) at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore.“At present, we are able to go to a depth of only 100 metres.<more>
