Arun
Nangalia
On
18th of February we received the sad news that Mr Arun Nangala (AK
Enterprise, Kolkota) is
no more.
He underwent a liver transplant surgery on 6th February. During the
surgery he had a brain hemorrhage. The doctors declared him brain dead on
7th but tried to revive him in the next few days. He finally lost his
battle for life on 14th at 1:00 pm.
Arun Nangalia visited our office about two years back. During his visit he
also
jokingly referred to his various ailments which he had. His confidence and
positive attitude towards life was very impressive. Never had a thought that it
would end up so soon.
Arun Nangalia will continue to live in our
memories and through his wife, two daughters and his brother Ajay.

ICI
brushes off takeover talk
ICI boss John McAdam shrugged off talk of the British chemicals giant being
sized up by Dutch rival Akzo Nobel, as the group posted an 8% rise in
full-year profit. The Dulux paintmaker has been the centre of takeover
rumours since last year when the Dutch group's chief financial officer
described ICI as 'a beautiful company'. James Knight, analyst at
Collins Stewart, said: 'A bid of up to 600p from Akzo Nobel remains a
possibility.' But McAdam insisted management are not getting distracted by
the market talk. 'We are having a great time. People within the business are
just concentrating on what they are doing,' he said. Pressed on what he
thought of the cream of British industry - such as Corus and Scottish-Power
- being bought by overseas players, McAdam said: 'I just watch with
interest. Increasingly it is a global business world.' <more>

Nippon Chemical to Boost Trivalent Chromium
Salt Production
Nippon Chemical Industrial plans to double its production capacity for
trivalent chromium salt for use in the surface treatment of vehicle
components via the construction of a new plant. The decision is in response
to the rising need for hexavalent-chromium-free surface treatment amid
tightening restrictions on the use of hexavalent chromium in Europe.
The company installed new facilities in the summer of 2006 at Tokuyama,
significantly lifting its output capacity, but wishes to further consolidate
its supply of aqueous trivalent chromium salt solution to fulfill the needs
of its customers in surface-treatment industrial sectors—end-use sectors
that have been promoting technological measures to adopt trivalent chromate
treatment ahead of schedule. <more>
Kärcher Introduces Innovative & Safe Dry Ice
Blaster For In-Place Cleaning
Kärcher Industrial Products, a division of the world's largest manufacturer
of high-pressure cleaning equipment of the same name, has introduced a dry
ice blaster, a highly effective and mess-free method for in-place cleaning
that eliminates the need to disassemble machinery before it is cleaned.
The new IB 15/80 Dry Ice Blaster uses compressed air to propel tiny dry ice
pellets at supersonic speeds so they flash freeze and then lift grime,
paint, rust, mold and other contaminants from off metal surfaces. Moreover,
the pellets quickly vaporize into the air so there's no messy wastewater or
solvents to dispose of, only the soiled contaminant that can be swept up.
Other cleaning media, such as sand or glass bead, can be too abrasive
sometimes etching or damaging the metal surface. Dry ice is non-abrasive,
using micro-thermal shock (the dry ice temperature is -109° F) to lift the
contaminant off the surface.
Dry ice blasting is growing in popularity because it completely eliminates
the need to disassemble machinery before it's cleaned. The labor savings is
significant, reducing to a few hours what used to take days to do.
Furthermore, dry ice blasting cleans in crevices that can't be reached by
hand or via other cleaning methods.
