"The specialty chemicals business of Akzo Nobel India Ltd is closely integrated with the global specialty chemicals business of Akzo Nobel," the company said in a regulatory filing today. It further said: "Given this interdependency, the board believes it will be in the best interest of the shareholders, concerned employees and customers that the India specialty chemical business is also divested to the said specialty chemical global entity or its affiliate." <more> France stops sales of two Dow pesticides over bee fears A French court on Friday stopped sales of two pesticides made by US chemical giant Dow after an environmental group raised fears that the substances could be harmful to bees. The two products, Transform and Closer, are authorised for sale in 41 countries including the United States, Canada and South Africa, according to Dow.
