Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd to acquire 100% stake in Marpol Pvt Ltd.
Kansai Nerolac Paints has entered into Share Purchase Agreements (SPAs) to acquire 100% equity stake in Marpol for an aggregate consideration of Rs. 36 crore before adjustments due to legal and financial due diligence.

Marpol is one of the leading companies in powder coating business. The acquisition will give synergy benefits in raw material and other miscellaneous costs

Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd (KNPL), India’s third largest listed paints company, in a statement to the stock exchanges said that it will acquire 100% stake in Marpol Pvt Ltd (Marpol).
Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd (KNPL), India’s third largest listed paints company, in a statement to the stock exchanges said that it will acquire 100% stake in Marpol Pvt Ltd (Marpol).

KNPL informed the stock exchanges that it has entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire 100% stake in Marpol Pvt Ltd for an aggregate consideration of Rs36cr before adjustments due to legal and financial due diligence. The all-cash deal is expected to be completed by May 31, 2018. KNPL will acquire 29,95,200 equity shares of face value 10 each.

Marpol is a Goa based paints company engaged in the business of powder coating. It manufactures products such as epoxy polyster, pure polyster, pure epoxy, and polyurethane powder. As of FY16-17, the company had a turnover of Rs63cr.

KNPL is a significant player in the powder coating business and the acquisition will lead to synergy benefits and cost benefits for the
company.

KNPL derives 56% revenues from decorative paints, 43% from industrial paints and 1% from exports. KNPL has presence in decorative paint market of Nepal. Recently, it has entered into JV with Maharaja Group to cater to Sri Lankan paints market. Currently, KNPL has capacity of 364,000MT across four plants in India and has the third-largest distribution network comprising 15,000 dealers.. .

Berger Paints India Limited to build a new plant in Uttar Pradesh
Kolkata, Apr 13 (IBNS): Decorative paint company Berger Paints India Limited on Friday said it is planning to come up with a plant near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.


The plant will be built in the Sandila Industrial area, addressing product demands from the Uttar Pradesh – Bihar belt.

With the increasing demand of its products, Berger Paints decided to come up with this new plant at an initial investment of Rs. 1.5 billion. The final proposed projected capacity for the UP plant is 2 Lakh KL/MT per annum.<more>

The Board of Directors of Berger Paints India Ltd has approved installation of an integrated paint plant with water and solvent based decorative, industrial and protective coatings, resin, putty, emulsion and construction chemical manufacturing capabilities at an investment of about Rs.200 crores at Sandila Industrial Area in Uttar Pradesh. Subject to all required consents and approvals, the Project is likely to be completed by the end of the financial year 2019-20.<more>

Paint prices likely to go up 2-3%
To offset rise in raw material cost

Paint prices are expected to move up by another 2-3 per cent beginning May primarily on account of rising input cost and crude oil prices. This will be the second price hike this year, the first being in March.

Market leader Asian Paints and Berger (the Number Two player) both have confirmed that there will be a 2 per cent increase from May 1. Industry sources say other players are expected to follow suit soon.<more>

PPG Will Cut 1,100 Jobs Amid Growing Material Costs
Costs are rising for the raw materials it uses to make paints and coatings
PPG Industries Inc. PPG 0.25% said it would cut 1,100 jobs in part to offset rising costs for the raw materials it uses to make paints and coatings.

The Pittsburgh-based company also said it would book a pretax charge of as much as $85 million in the second quarter related to severance and other cash costs.

PPG said it was trimming its costs as a result of “sustained, elevated raw material inflation.” A PPG spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. It wasn’t clear how much of the workforce reduction would involve layoffs, in what locations and when.<more>
